Hiking, rafting or even showering is the promise of a new generation of waterproof, shock-proof and long-lasting smartphones.
Outdoor may become a flourishing niche in the samrtphone market. The new phones are supposed to withstand shocks, water, sand and even mud. Their screens, more luminous, were conceived to remain readable under the rays of the sun. A tool for the Sunday adventurers or a little more because it has a long battery life that allows an autonomy covering the duration of the weekend.
In the outdoor market, the waterproof was the first in line. These models, with integrated camera look like a promise of happiness for snorkeling lovers provided however not to be too adventurous.
With these products, Asian manufacturers, long converted to waterproof, are in fact only moving to export. What’s the reason for the fad there?
The idea is to allow real addicts to call in the shower or when they are in the toilet without risking the stupid accident by drowning the device at the bottom of the bowl.
Today, no iPhone or Windows Phone smartphone is natively waterproof to date. Fortunately, waterproof hulls, mainly for iPhone, will remedy this pitfall.
To fill the few minimal openings that are the connector allowing to connect an audio headset and the one connecting the telephone to its electrical supply, the manufacturers generally use watertight traps. However, care must be taken to close these small covers, otherwise water may enter through these openings.
The weak link being the human factor, some manufacturers have designed waterproof plugs or connectors. These do not require any more caches, to avoid its breakage following too frequent or clumsy manipulations.
