Singapore finally repatriates its citizens stranded in the Gulf

Singapore will operate repatriation flights from Muscat, Oman, today, Saturday (March 7), and tomorrow, Sunday, as the government intensifies its efforts to evacuate citizens trapped by the escalating conflict in the Middle East.

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Gan Siow Huang stated that approximately one-quarter of Singaporeans who registered online with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) have requested assistance returning home since the conflict began.

Flights departing from Muscat will serve Singaporeans currently residing in Oman and the United Arab Emirates – countries where approximately 60% of electronically registered Singaporeans live.

In a Facebook post, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that the second flight, scheduled for March 8, was organized “due to high demand.” The Ministry added that Singaporeans residing in the UAE would be transported to Muscat by bus.

Tickets are priced at SG$600 per seat

According to an email sent to a Singaporean in Abu Dhabi after registering online with the ministry, the first flight will depart from Muscat International Airport at 10:30 a.m. local time on Saturday and arrive in Singapore at 9:20 p.m. the same day.

Ground transportation to Muscat will be provided. Passengers will be picked up the day before at 7:00 a.m. at two locations: the Singapore Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Millennium Airport Hotel in Dubai.
