Hari Raya Puasa soon determined

The date for sighting the crescent moon of Syawal has been set for the evening of March 19 in 29 locations across the country.

The Office of the Keeper of the Seals announced that the official proclamation of Eid al-Fitr will be made that evening on radio and television, the national news agency Bernama reported.

“In accordance with the decree of His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, and with the consent of the Conference of Sovereigns, the Keeper of the Seal of the Sovereigns hereby declares that the crescent moon of Syawal will be sighted on the evening of Thursday, March 19, 2026, corresponding to the 29th of Ramadan 1447 AH,” the office stated in a press release.

The Conference of Sovereigns agreed that the date of Hari Raya Puasa should be determined through both rukyah (visual observation) and hisab (astronomical calculation).
