Fincantieri delivers Norwegian Luna

Italian naval excellence and the ambition of modern cruising met at the Marghera shipyard in Venice for the official delivery of the Norwegian Luna to Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL). This exceptional vessel is the second flagship of the Prima Plus class, an expanded and technologically advanced version of the original series, demonstrating the successful collaboration between the shipbuilder Fincantieri and the NCLH Group.

The handover ceremony was held in the presence of Biagio Mazzotta, President of Fincantieri, and Luigi Matarazzo, Managing Director of the Merchant Ships division, while the American delegation was led by Marc Kazlauskas, President of NCL, accompanied by Patrik Dahlgren, Executive Vice President of Operations and New Construction, and Daniel S. Farkas, Legal Counsel of NCLH.

Just like its sister ship, the Norwegian Aqua, delivered in 2025, the Norwegian Luna boasts impressive dimensions with a gross tonnage of 156,000 tons and a length of 321 meters.

This configuration allows for more than 3,550 berths, a capacity 10% greater than that of its predecessors, the Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva, while maintaining the standards of luxury and spaciousness that define this new generation of cruise ships.

Beyond its impressive architecture, the Norwegian Luna stands out for its innovative entertainment features, including the world’s first Aqua Slidecoaster—a water-based roller coaster—and exclusive suites in the private resort, The Haven.

Set to begin its inaugural season in 2026, the ship symbolizes NCL’s growing presence in the premium segment, combining refined European design with immersive experiences to redefine vacations at sea.
