Global air traffic increased by 6.6% in October

Globally, air traffic increased by 6.6% in October 2025 compared to the same month of the previous year, according to data published by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), which attributes this growth to the dynamism of the international market and strong demand despite an uncertain economic environment.

Global capacity increased by 5.8% year-on-year, and the load factor reached 84.6%, 0.7 percentage points higher than in October 2024.

On international flights, demand rebounded by 8.5%, with a capacity increase of 7.1%. An improved load factor of 84.6%.

In the domestic market, demand increased by 3.4%, with capacity 3.6% higher than the previous year, and the load factor remaining at 84.6%.

IATA Director General Willie Walsh highlighted the strong performance for the month and, in particular, the 4.5% growth in international traffic for North American airlines after several months of stagnation.

He also emphasized that scheduled capacity for the coming months continues to increase, with a projected rise of 3.6% in November and 4.7% in December.

Walsh stated that, despite the economic uncertainty of 2026, the resilience of air travel demand « is a positive point that governments should take into account carefully« , due to its impact on employment and growth.
