Dubai airport is cautiously reopening. Doha remains closed

Dubai International Airport (DXB), the Middle East’s premier air hub, began a gradual and extremely fragile resumption of operations this Wednesday, following a complete shutdown triggered last Saturday by the abrupt closure of airspace after Iranian attacks.

Dubai Airport management emphasizes, however, that activity remains « strictly limited » and issues an urgent appeal to travelers:

It is imperative not to go to the terminals without explicit and recent confirmation of departure from their airline, as flight schedules remain subject to last-minute changes depending on the evolving regional security situation.

Conversely, the situation remains unchanged in Doha, the second major air transport hub in the region, where Qatar Airways has officially suspended all its flights for the day, making any resumption contingent on safety approval from the Qatari Civil Aviation Authority.

Qatar Airways, whose aircraft are currently grounded, plans to issue a new situation report Wednesday morning, leaving thousands of transit passengers waiting for the safe reopening of Gulf air corridors.

This asymmetrical resumption of operations between the two aviation giants illustrates the complexity of restarting a globally interconnected network after a military shock of this magnitude, where the absolute priority remains protecting flight paths against any residual risk of attack or interception.
