From February 1 to 28, the Chemin de l’Inca will be closed for maintenance work, as it has been regularly since 2000. However, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism and Promperu have announced that the Machu Picchu Citadel will remain open to the public.
From March 1st, the tourist entrance will be reopened after the maintenance and cleaning work carried out by the Directorate of the Historical Sanctuary of Machu Picchu-SERNANP, in collaboration with the Directorate of Culture in Cusco, has been completed.
New schedules in Machu Picchu and without plastic
From now on, entries to Machu Picchu are made at the following times and for a maximum of 4 hours of visit: 6am, 7am, 8am, 9am, 10am, 11am, 12pm, 1pm and 2pm, last possible entry time.
The last outing will therefore be at 6pm. Tickets will have the entry and exit time displayed and access before the booked time will not be allowed.
And all this without plastic! Since January 1, 2019, all access with single-use plastics is prohibited. This measure also applies to the Manu Natural Park, the Paracas Reserve, and any other protected natural area in the country, as well as to places declared cultural heritage and State museums.
